Time For a New Chapter

Well, the deed is done. I sold my little tree house yesterday for full price and a generous closing date for escrow. I must stand aside and acknowledge anew the miraculous and comforting hand of God in my life. I stand all amazed! How can one girl be so blessed? I keep falling to my knees in humble gratitude for His love and sure, continuous guidance in every aspect of my life.

The new owner came by today with her daughter and s-i-law to measure, take pix and just be so excited about where she will put everything. She is moving here from Victorville b/c her daughter is having the first Grand this year and she wants to be in T.O. with him.  WE ARE BOTH MOVING FOR THE SAME REASONS!

But now I have to work out the logistics of moving to Utah. I feel like Miss Scarlet, "I'll just worry about that tomorrow!" I think I need a shot of moving-courage from Tobey and Melyssa. It will probably be easier to think about when I go make the choices for my new nest at the end of the month. Right now, I feel like I don't have a real place to move to (BECAUSE I DON'T) since it isn't built yet. Maybe when I see the construction in person it will help me transition mentally.

This is my kitchen,/family room and MB room/ study view
I think this is my basement view
The pool IS the Saratoga Spring so it's heated year-round

There is a small splash park/pavilion/picnic tables in the complex directly across the street from my building so the kiddies might enjoy that. I have room for visitors so....come on over!

Well... this is going to be an interesting year; I feel it in my bones and my heart.

The Love in My Life

I spent a nice Christmas Eve with Kelly eating the traditional Christmas Eve dinner, playing games and watching TV and when I got home I decided to read this book before retiring.
Jonelle gave it to me in 2000. I like reading it at Christmastime.

Dickens wrote: " He was always merciful and tender. And because He did such good, and taught people how to love God, He was called Our Saviour." J said she hoped in Eternity I would see how far-reaching and valuable my testimony, prayers, faith and loving hard work have truly been. I reflected on these past six years and how blessed I have been by people who "love God" and show that love by their love of His children; how thankful I am for the unspeakable gift of having them in my life.

Parents: I have been blessed with an idyllic childhood because of these two wonderful people. They are a constant source of love and acceptance of me...even the reclusive me. How blessed I am to have them in my life still! My greatest blessing....

Sisters: These two angels have been unwavering in their love and emotional support; listening and advising in turn. I'm thankful for our spiritual as well as physical proximity. They are the BEST!

Children: Well, I don't know where to start when I think about the privilege of being a mother.  My quiver is full of them (9) and thus my cup runneth over with joy. Motherhood is truly a partnership with God; I think there is no better way to become like Him than by being willing to, literally, give your life in providing bodies for and nurturing His spirit children. I don't have to wait for Eternity to discover the far-reaching effects of motherhood...I thrill each time I see my children teaching and living the gospel. It is just comfortable to spend time with these children who are amazing adults. I  gave motherhood my very best effort; I'm comfortable with that knowledge.

Grands: These 13 are truly everything that is good about my life. The Adamic language is needed to express the way I feel about them. They have been my little saviors these past 6 years. I may not be the Granna who can lavish material gifts upon them but I have tried to share my testimony of the gospel, my love of the scriptures, my love of reading, my passion for America, my sense of wonderment of nature (the beach, mountains etc). It will be a great blessing to live near these little angels and be able to spend more time with them...because time and love is all I really have to give them.
Sigh...
Tending Maya: precious memory

Nieces & Nephews: There are 15 who have been an added level of love and encouragement over the past 6 years. They have counseled me, invited me into their homes, included me in their important events and just plain made me feel SO LOVED. I have 26 Grand nieces and nephews who have blessed with their sweet hugs, kisses and company.

I tried to bow out of Dylan's big day but Katie wouldn't hear of it.

Cassandra invites us to Mom's days and Christmas'. Here is a woman with a Godly walk.

Tobey & co stopped by Halloweens and shared the girls with me often.
What joy these girls have given me!

Friends: "A friend loveth at all times." Again, words cannot express my gratitude for so many angel-friends. We have eaten, talked, cried, counseled, vacationed and  rejoiced together. God has SO blessed me with reconnections with friends from high school, college, church as well as new dear folk these past 6 years.  An incredible tender mercy! Yoshiko, Linda, Carol, Linda, Margie, Karen, Linda, K Lynn, Dana, Joyce, Nancy, Marilee, Phyllis, Marti, Sheri, Melinda, Kathy,Mary Anne, Gene, Carolyn, Sharon, Koleen, John, Peggy, Ginny, Rosemary, Kris, Steve, Suzie, Glenna Rae. You have been a great, great comfort!

Students:  At the most fortuitous moments, God has blessed me with a reconnection with some of my former students. Jesse has called me several times out of the blue and even invited me to his high school graduation party which brought a smile to my heart. Mike McKinnon (I was his 16-yr-old Primary teacher), Elena Lamb (I was her 22 yr-old Laurel advisor) and others have sent me  friend requests with notes of appreciation for our former association.  Also, I have to acknowledge the gift of  work that I love as I continue to associate and try to lift and bless youth.
My sweet kindergartner Jesse Amarant has graduated!

How can I not love my work?

Jimmy Lee: I saved this sweet love in my life for last. This good man is a delight and a wonder (I wonder what I did to deserve his love and friendship). We are a 'For the Strength of Youth' couple which means that we live the standards of virtue taught by our prophets. We work on discussing & developing the true aspects of intimacy (Initiative, Presence, Completion, Vulnerability, Nurturing and Honesty); we can spend 90 minutes studying 4 verses of scripture on the phone and he tells me, "I feel so close to you, I love you so much... I just want to hug you right now!"; he treats me as a beloved daughter of God.  I pray for each of my granddaughters and nieces to have this kind of relationship with the men they date; that they will never settle for anything less.

My heart is filled with the love of God as I continually reflect on His tender mercies. How can one girl be so blessed with all this love in her life?  There have been sorrows and trials over the past six years but they are always swallowed up when I focus on gratitude for those who love and are beloved by me. Life is beautiful!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Jim came down for my birthday. We had such a nice 11 days. (Wow...11 days in a row; A record!)
We enjoyed dinner and a game with the grands, dinner with the Family at the Ormes, dinner with friends at the Heims, tennis, biking, walking, temple, puzzles, swimming and  the jacuzzi.
Jim had a very hard time at my house; I didn't know he was allergic to cats until the second day when he woke up with everything bad that goes with allergies (he slept one night in his car his breathing got so scary). It was not pleasant for him and he was highly medicated with medicine that made him sleepy (he slept through Sacrament and priesthood) but he says he really loved being here. It's hard not to love Thousand Oaks. My 60th birthday was indeed memorable!

Party at Jonelle's. She made the best meet-the-friend pork chops and rice.
Freda would be so proud!

Happy Christmas Families

Christmas 2012 was One To Remember with a happy heart.

Jonelle and company came over for dinner and tree trimming early in the month. Many thanks to Matt for the great man he is to my girl and the kiddies...and ME- he brought me flowers and did the tree heavy lifting and transporting!
It was such a blessing to spend Saturday night (22nd) with the Ormes (I didn't get ONE pix...ARGHHH).But it was just wonderful to be with all of them again; every last one of them! I miss these fun people.

Sunday was our amazing TO4 Christmas Program for Sacrament; I sang in the choir only because the Bishop said sister Burrows wanted anyone who could "frost glass" (with exhaling). I can do that! It was a thrill to practice and perform the sacred music of Christmas. I love my ward family with all my heart; what a blessing...great joy! After church I drove Mom and Dad up to Cassandra's for the Buck Family Christmas/un-Joseph Smith Birthday Party. Well,I'm going to run out of superlatives before this post is over but my heart is so full of love for the great blessing of my family. We played Ticket to Ride and had the best time; thank you Kathi! The soups were delicious;thank you Kristy for the Sausage Zuppa recipe (I have it down now as my 'go to' offering). I'm so glad we could visit and party with these beautiful girls and their children. Good job Claudia; what a delightful family you have raised.

Monday I started my trek to Ephraim to spend Christmas Eve and morning with Larry but, alas, the snow put a halt to that plan and I had to stop in Beaver, Utah and get a hotel. It was a beautiful drive through California (see the rainbow in the desert) and Nevada but St George was the beginning of the wicked weather. It was a big disappointment for Larry and I. Christmas morning I drove to CHelsea's and enjoyed being with my girl in her beautiful home with her sweet family. Look at that baby girl; she is the most adorable baby EVER! We three played Farkle and ate tamales for lunch. That was the best meal ever; I love tamales! I drove on up to Jim's house and we visited his brother, his friend Richard and his children that day. The next 3 days passed too quickly; loading Jimeen's moving truck Wednesday, trying to go to the temple but I forgot my bag in my car so we went to Les Mis instead, temple on Thursday (we got asked to be the witness couple but Jim tried to make the guy understand, "this is Sister Marsh and I am Brother Tucker...we're not married" but the guy was deaf I guess; we popped in at Brandon's to open gifts and Cory's sick house (forgot to take any pix there either)the next day. Jim enjoyed seeing the kids faces as they watched their music DVDs. It was all worth it. We played tennis and walked/jogged the track at BYU one night; I love playing tennis again. I'm SO SO thankful for my healthy new-and-improved body that can run and play! We drove to Vegas Saturday, played tennis that night before dinner with RIchard and went to church Sunday. It is mighty enjoyable sitting in church with my sweetheart...life is just GOOD and I am filled with love and gratitude for each day!

December 31 Liz Pierce took me to Cabo San Lucas again for the week. The beaches were beautiful and I went galloping down the beach for my first time; it was really fun and I am a pretty lucky girl to have a friend who is so generous to me.

December will be a hard month to beat for joy and rejoicing but Jim is coming to Thousand Oaks Jan 18- 27 so I am p r e t t y excited.

Look at that rainbow on the bumpy road!                    Look at those beautiful nieces with their grandparents
