okay, we learned about shields this week (cassidy's friends were making fun of her last name a couple weeks ago...so this was a follow-up to the chat we'd had about that).
again, we sang let us all press on.
1)we discussed how our testimony is our shield against "satan's fiery darts".
2)Ephesians 6:10-11, 13-17 discussed the CTR shield (gave them a ctr picture to tape onto their trashcan lid shields, they practiced warding off daddy's sword attacks, he gave examples of fiery darts with each blow)
3)1 nephi 15:24-25 reading the scriptures helps strengthen our shields. (taped a scripture picture to their lids, practiced more defense with daddy and his examples)
4)D&C 3:8 our testimony will support/comfort in times of trouble (taped on picture of jesus lifting peter out of water, more practicing/examples)
5)helaman 5:12 testimony of savior is our greatest protection. (taped picture of jesus to lids, practiced more with shields and examples)
6)our activity was going into the yard and letting steve throw a cooler-ful of water baloons(to quench those fiery darts) at the kids, who worked valiantly to ward them off. it was fun! we sang our song again and ate treats.

Hey Jonelle if you keep doing this every week, we will never have to prepare an FHE again! Just kidding, but your ideas are SO amazing it is hard not to want to use them all. I bet it was super fun for Steve to attack the kids with water balloons. I can totally see Tobey loving that activity.
I know Kristy won't post what she did last night for FHE but I will do it for her.
1) She had a large box wrapped up like a present (with nothing in it) and asked the girls what their gift of choice would be. (Megan said a ball and Abby said paper and a pen) Then we talked about the gift of the Holy Ghost. She had a picture of a girl being confirmed and we talked about when it would happen, etc.
2) Then she pulled out a big bag with four objects in it that would teach us about the Holy Ghost and what it would do for us and had the girls draw them out one at a time.
A) A large blanket - John 14:26. The Holy Ghost is a comforter. Like the blanket is soft and warm the Holy Ghost can comfort us when we are sad, worried, lonely or scared.
B) A stop sign - The Holy Ghost will warn us of danger or help us in times of danger. She shared the story about President Lee who was prompted not to go into an old abandoned house to play. Also Talked about the story from the Friend just recently where the girl was prompted to run away from the bear.
C) A flash light - Alma 32:28 The holy Ghost enlightens our minds and gives us revelation as to what we should do. Will help us choose the right.
D) A large paper heart - Moroni 10:4-5. The Holy Ghost will speak to your heart and tell you when things are true. Holy Ghost will help you feel Heavenly Father's love. Sang "I Know My Father Lives"
3)Then I got to share an experience when I felt the spirit.
