Apartment Found

Misty and I went down to San Diego this past weekend to continue apartment hunting. Right before we left Friday morning we checked the mailbox and saw a letter from Loyola. It was a rejection letter, so we knew going down to San Diego that we were for sure going to be living there. That was good for us to have assurance of what we were doing and where we were going.
We got to San Diego at around 9:30am and started looking at places immediately. A little after lunch time we checked into the hotel Misty got on Priceline. She was able to get some much needed rest, as she was a little tired and sore. We continued looking at about 3pm and did not have a lot of success. All of the private owner places were old and a little dirty, and still pretty expensive. We found a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit at a really nice resort-type place, that had all the nice amenities (pool, workout center, etc.) as well as granite counter tops, roman bath tubs (full-size tubs), walk-in closets, and new appliances. It was more than what we were looking for and very expensive; $1900/mo, but it was the only place that really had what we needed. We needed a place that had a lot of storage space because of the babies and all of that stuff, we also needed a living room with enough wall space to fit our couch, entertainment center, and piano. We were hoping to get a place with a garage so we could store our washer/dryer (we don't want to sell them, we got them for really cheap).
After all of our searching on Friday, this place was the only we had seen that fit what we needed and it was the only unit left in the complex so we put a hold on it, figuring we could keep looking on Saturday, and if we didn't find anything else we'd go with that one. We had about 4 places scheduled to go see on Saturday, but we were not very optimistic about any of them from the pictures, prices, info we knew about them already.
Friday afternoon we saw an OK place. This unit was in the perfect location, in between the trolley line and the San Diego river. It was all by itself, with no other complexes around, nice walkways and fountains, and a trail along the river so Misty could walk the babies. There was also a trolley stop right outside the gate of the complex, which I could walk to and would take me very near the school. We were very excited when first arriving on Friday. This was, by far, the best location of all the units we had looked at thus far. Nevertheless, we were disappointed when walking through the unit. It was old and pretty nasty and the guy was still asking 1750/mo. We just couldn't make ourselves pay that much for that quality.
The first place we went to go see on Saturday was in the same complex. We were hoping that at least this place would have better appliances and counter tops, and clean bath tubs. This place was also listed cheaper than the earlier place, 1650/mo. We assumed because it was cheaper, it would be worse, but decided to go look anyways. We were pleasantly surprised. The unit was in excellent condition. Nice appliances, counter tops, clean bath tubs, dark walnut oak flooring throughout the whole unit. We loved it and decided it was the place for us.
We canceled all of our other appointments that day and signed the paperwork for the unit. We are packing up our truck this Friday (well, I am packing it, Misty is giving moral support), and driving down Saturday morning. It is 2 bedroom/2 baths, 1 car garage, town house style, so entry is on bottom level with garage, stairs go to second level where the unit is. No one above or below us, and only one connecting wall at the guest bathroom and kitchen, which is perfect. We are super excited and look forward to being in our new place next week.
