Blanket Fun

The boys love the blankets that Papa Jack made them...they love looking at them, or "reading" as Lori would say. I think they really like all the contrast in all the different squares...they (especially Micah) will just stare at them for a very long time. You can even get them to follow one square with their eyes. So.....we hung them above their crib so they will always have something fun to look at. Thanks Papa Jack!

Also...we have loved having Granna here. She has been a HUGE help. I've been able to get some great sleep, and the boys have loved having someone else to interact with. It has also been fun to watch Lori and learn some new ways to entertain the boys and to have another opinion (which in the case of babies, I starting to think is really just a guess) as to what might be bothering them/ways to help them. It is SO kind/generous of her to be here. We are very thankful for her sacrifice.

Cute pixs. Glad to hear you're getting rest. I don't know if the boys are gassy but Heidi's Dr. told her yesterday to stay away from cucumbers, tomatoes (I didn't know that) & diary to see if that helped. She also said the vibrators seats are good for them & to put him over your knees to help push the gas out.
He DID love the vibrator chair last night.
OH, the other thing was for her to not let him eat longer than 10 min. cause she has a lot of milk & he'll eat too much (she's hoping this is the problem). She said he would eat, fall asleep, then eat again so now she takes him off when he falls asleep & so far he's pretty content. Dr. said when woman has a lot of milk they can get 4-5 oz in that 10 mins.

Just passing on what Heidi was told. Don't know if you have those problems. She's bummed about diary if that's the case--hoping it's not. But a lot of babies are lucose tolerant- so the moms have to stay away from diary.

The La'leche (sp) lady in the hospital told her you can eat ANYTHING, it doesn't effect the baby. I don't believe that at all. Amy Haslam (niece) is proof of that- she couldn't eat practically anything (seriously) when nursing.

have fun. Wish we could of been there for the blessings.

The Le Leche League lady (lactation nation-Steve Shields calls them) told Misty that breastfed babies don't need to be burped! Can you believe that? Imagine some poor first-time mother going through agony because her baby is being so fussy during a feeding or after a feeding but she doesn't burp him b/c someone said that; or feeling something must be wrong because her baby needs/makes burps. Arghhhhh!

no, he calls them "Lactivists".
he also has this reflex where his hand goes up to his forehead making the "L" for "loser" sign whenever he says the words "La Leche" -- that's steve.

and yes, you need to burp the babies.
and yes, what you eat has different effects on the babies.
